My father wasn't born yet (1902) and obviously didn't pop up but it did list the two older children, Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle (Monsignior) Edward and reflected two deceased children plus a Nanny that lived with them. I did research WILLs at Phila. City Hall and found my Grandfathers Will which was probated on August 2, 1905. He left a Saloon w/ upstairs Apartments and a residence on the same street both valued at $50,000! After some runaround, I found out that he was a "Minor", Naturalized on September 25, 1878 in The Common Pleas Court of Philadelphia rather than a Federal Court which was optional at the time. His Sponsor was a James Cunnie who in turn was Naturalized in the same system on October 24, 1864. The records merely state "Ireland" as their place of birth. What I am trying to establish is: When did my Grandfather come to the US? And what Town or Village in Ireland did he come from? The one place left for me to research is the Ship Landings registry. What I will have to do is start at around one year prior to 9/25/1878 and start working my way backwards. I'm reasonably sure, he left out of Cork Ireland and Philadelphia was his Port of entry rather than NY. I just ran out of time. I believe I can get this information either in the Boston Library and/or the Census Bureau in Waltham, MA. Somehow I was under the impression that Harry had looked into both sides of the family already? Anyth! ing you can come up with would be appreciated. Ed Cunnie
