Michael Cunney was born in 1707 the son of Padraig Cunney (born 1654) of Carrane. He married Brigid O'Hara also of Carrane and had two sons: Aubistin Cunney born 1763 married Mary Dacey of Culdalee. They rasised three sons there. Sean Ruah Cunney born 1765 married Mary Brennan and remained in Carrane. They had a son Patrick.
